Cameron golfer ties for 14th at Class 2A State Tournament

HINTON — Cameron sophomore Kody Whitehead tied for 14th at the Class 2A State Tournament, which took place Monday and Tuesday at Sugar Creek Canyon Golf Course. His three-round total was 79-80-81—240.Whitehead missed by three shots in being in a playoff for the 10th-place medalist, which eventually was won by Amber-Pocasset's Brandon Pfeifle — who was in a three-way tie at 237 after the initial 54 holes.Rejoice Christian's Justin Strathe was the individual state champion with a 74-74-71—219, winning by two shots over Luther's Ryan Stults (77-73-71—221).Whitehead was in 14th place after the first 36 holes on Monday at 159, and was five shots off pace to be in line for medalling.
