Cameron's Cody Maxwell has a broken right knuckle, a broken nose and two broken toes, but he had the hardware.
Maxwell, 19, became the youngest competitor to win an Xtreme Fighting Inc. championship belt Saturday night at Phoenix Expo Center in Fort Smith, Ark. He got a third-round knockout of Tahlequah's Rikki Swicegood to win the 135-pound title. He also got a plaque, and his bout with Swicegood was dubbed “The Fight of the Night.”
“It was exciting,” Maxwell said about his win. “I've had no better feeling. I've never felt anything like it.”
Maxwell, who fights out of the Redneck Fight Club in Cameron, was not certain how soon he would return to the ring as he has to heal from his injuries suffered Saturday night.
