Carl Albert baseball team splits first two games at Region II Tournament; Vikings opponent yet to be determined for Saturday afternoon’s contest

May 10, 2013

BARTLESVILLE — The Carl Albert State College baseball team split its first two games of the Region II Tournament at Doenges Ballpark.
The Vikings staved off elimination Friday afternoon with a 2-0 win over the Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa Mavericks after losing their opener 4-3 to the Western Oklahoma State College Pioneers on Thursday night.
The Vikings (23-30) did not know as of press time who their opponent would be at 3:30 this afternoon. In one scenario, the Vikings will play the loser of Friday’s Murray State/NOC-Enid game this afternoon.
However, if Friday’s final game of the night saw Redlands Community College defeat Western, the Vikings will play Redlands at 3:30 this afternoon with the winner going to the title game at 1 p.m. Sunday.
Whoever the Vikings play today, Coalgate sophomore Rhett Acker will get the start.
