CASC awarded new 2.4 million EOC grant

Carl Albert State College received notification from U.S. Representative Dan Boren and U.S. Senator James Inhofe that a new Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) grant has been funded in the amount of $495,921 with the first budget period running September 2011 through August 2012. The grant funding will continue for a total of $2,479,605 over a five year period.
EOC is one of the federally funded TRiO programs housed at CASC to help area individuals seek higher education levels, with the ultimate goal of successful completion of postsecondary education/training.  Deborah Cummings wrote the grant for CASC, and stated this EOC competition was highly competitive.
“All TRiO grants are traditionally competitive, but because of the tight federal budget, this EOC competition was more so than ever before.  The cut off score of 107 assured that only grant proposals with prior experience points made the cutoff, so we are very pleased to receive a new grant.”
