The Carl Albert State College Vikings baseball team is opening postseason play tonight when they meet the Western Oklahoma State College at 7 p.m. in the first round of the Region II Tournament at Bartlesville’s Doenges Ballpark.
This postseason parade is especially important to Poteau’s Connor Gilstrap, a sophomore outfielder.
“It’s almost over,” Gilstrap said about his playing career. “This is going to be it for me. It was an honor just to get to go play at the next level, and have a little bit more time to play than just in high school. I’m ready to move on now. I’ve had my time. It was a great time, meeting new guys — and it was a privilege to get to play for coach (Mark) Pollard. He’s a good coach.”
