CASC sharpshooter Barnes heads for KC

Carl Albert State College Lady Viking Whitney Barnes, a 5-3 sophomore shooting guard from Indianola, has signed an NCAA Division II letter of intent with Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Mo., for the 2012-13 season.
Rockhurst is a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
During the 2011-12 season, Whitney averaged 16.4 points per game, which ranked 48th in the NJCAA, a team high 5.6 rebounds per game, 2.9 assists per game and 1.8 steals a game.
Also, Barnes shot 42.5 percent from the field. She was 63-of-151 on 3-point baskets for 41.7 percent average, which ranked 10th in the NJCAA, and she shot 75.8 percent from the free-throw line.
Barnes was recognized for a very successful season by being named to the Second Team All-Region II Team.
