Choctaw trail relocates

A portion of the Choctaw
Nation Trail near Billy
Creek has been ordered to
be relocated after treacherous
conditions make it
unsafe for outdoor enthusiasts.
According to a decision
filed by District U.S.
Forestry Ranger John
Baldwin, a portion of the
CNT near the Billy Creek
area has a very steep and
eroded portion that has
become dangerous to those
walking the trail. In order
to make the trail safer and
more enjoyable for hikers,
the relocation of a quarter
mile of the trail will eliminate
the dangerously steep
climb along with an intermittent
stream crossing
without threatening any
endangered species or
damaging habitat for wildlife.
