Chorale auditions open this weekend

August 1, 2013

If you love music and are willing to work to perform with others, Cavanal Chorale is opening its doors for you this weekend.
Cavanal Chorale was organized in 2008 for the purpose of sharing choral music of high musical standards with Poteau and the surrounding areas, according to Chorale Conductor Noma Curtis.
"A variety of genres are rehearsed and presented in each themed concert series. These genres include classical, art songs, folk songs, musical theatre, sacred, humorous and patriotic," Curtis said.
Auditions will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church. Rehearsals will resume at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11.
Concerts are scheduled for Nov. 9-10.
"If you can read music well enough to be fairly independent on a voice part, have a love of good music, and can commit to 13 rehearsals plus two concerts, Cavanal Chorale is the ensemble for you," Curtis said.
For additional information, call Curtis at (918) 649-0453.
