Christopher Wade Barnes

Christopher Wade Barnes was born to Thomas Cleve “Bud” and Donna (Moore) Barnes on Nov. 7, 1973, in Poteau. He passed from this life June 6, 2012.
He was a probation and parole officer for the Arkansas Department of Corrections, graduated from Oklahoma State University and was member of First Baptist Church in Poteau. Chris had a vast knowledge of history, a fondness for the outdoors and a deep love of family.
Chris was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Elton and Opal Barnes of Gilmore, and maternal grandparents, Don and Mildred Moore of Poteau.
He is survived by his wife, Tracey (Bennett) Barnes and expectant baby of the home; a daughter, Madison Barnes of McAlester; two step-sons, Matthew and Kevin Meeks of McAlester; brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Shannon “Rennie” Barnes of Poteau; and two nephews, Brice and Duncan Barnes of Poteau.
Services were held June 11 at Brush Creek Baptist Church in Springdale, Ark., officiated by Rev. Terry Eaton. Graveside services followed at Vaughn Cemetery in Gilmore, officiated by Rev. Phil McGehee.
Pallbearers were Travis Loggains, Donnie Barnes, Brice Barnes, Duncan Barnes, Kevin Meeks and Matthew Meeks. Honorary Pallbearers were Brett Barnes, Pete Cepeda and Bart Watkins.
