Cinderella playoff runs ends for Talihina boys; Fifth-ranked Latta Panthers down Golden Tigers in state quarterfinals

March 7, 2013

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Talihina Golden Tigers were making a Cinderella run through the Class 2A playoffs, including upsetting Oktaha in the regional tournament finals and Preston last Friday night in the area finals to make it to Thursday's state-tournament quarterfinals. That was where Cinderella's shoe no longer fit.
Class 2A's fifth-ranked Latta Panthers ended the Golden Tigers' season with a 58-43 state-quarterfinal victory Thursday afternoon at Oklahoma City University. The Golden Tigers end the season with a 19-12 record.
The Panthers (27-3) had another great defensive effort as they held the Golden Tigers to 28 percent shooting (13-of-47 from the field) and had a 31-21 rebounding advantage.
Latta outscored Talihina in every quarter but one. The Panthers held a slim 12-9 lead after one and extended that lead to 29-14 by the half. Their largest lead (37-20) came during the third period.
