CATOOSA — The Poteau Pirates have been scoring goals at a sizzling pace, but when they arrived in Catoosa Friday night, they found a strong wind — and a tribe of hungry Indians waiting in the wings to sink the Pirates' ship.
Catoosa played hard and kept the Pirates at arm's length. They actually gained the lead at the 13-minute mark.
At that point, the wake up call was delivered to the Pirates. They started playing with a vengeance as they outscored Catoosa 7-0 over the final 67 minutes of the game for a 7-1 victory to begin the Class 4A playoffs.
The Pirates will travel once more to meet the Oologah Mustangs at 7 p.m. tonight in Oologah.
