Class A, B playoffs begin tonight for county teams; four teams facing elimination immediately
The Class A and B playoffs, a.k.a., “the second season,” will begin tonight, with four of the 10 LeFlore County teams trying to keep their seasons going as they are facing elimination.In the Class A District Tournament at the Cameron Gym, the host Lady Yellowjackets and the Arkoma Mustangs will play make-or-break games tonight when they meet Clayton at 6:30 and 8 p.m., respectively, tonight. While the losers will be eliminated, the winners will meet the Arkoma Lady Mustangs (6:30 p.m.) and the host ’Jackets (8 p.m.) on Saturday night for the district championship.In the Class B District Tournament at the Whitesboro Gym, the host Bulldogs will try to stave off elimination at 8 p.m. tonight when they meet Eagletown, with the winner facing Moyers at 8 p.m. Saturday for the district championship.On the girls' side, the host Lady Bulldogs got a bye into Saturday night's 6:30 p.m. title game against the winner of tonight's Eagletown-Moyers contest, which will begin at 6:30 p.m.In another Class B District Tournament, the Bokoshe Tigers will seek their first win of the season when they meet Midway at 8 p.m. tonight in Kinta. The winner will face the host Eagles at 8 p.m. Saturday, while the loser will be eliminated.On the girls' side, the Bokoshe Lady Tigers received a bye into Saturday night's 6:30 p.m. title game against the winner of tonight's Kinta-Midway contest, which will begin at 6:30 p.m.The Leflore High School teams are hosting a third Class B District Tournament with McCurtain's squads coming to town. Since there's only two teams in the district, they will meet each other in the title games at 6:30 p.m. (girls) and 8 p.m. (boys) on Saturday at the Leflore Gym.In all cases, both teams playing in the district tournament title games will advance to next week's regional tournaments. The district champion will advance on the winner's-bracket side, while the district runner-up will be in the consolation side of the regional tournament.The Class 4A, 3A and 2A playoffs will not begin until next Friday and Saturday, Feb. 18.In the Class 4A District Tournament, the host Poteau Lady Pirates and Pirates will welcome the Hilldale teams to Sherman Floyd Fieldhouse for games at 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Feb. 18.The Class 3A and 2A District Tournaments for LeFlore County teams will begin next Friday. Heavener will visit Kansas and Spiro will travel to meet Eufaula in Class 3A District Tournaments with games being at 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. next Friday.In the three Class 2A District Tournaments, there will be elimination games next Friday. At the Class 2A District Tournament in Panama, the host Razorbacks will meet their archrival Pocola Indians at 8 p.m. next Friday with the winner meeting Gore at 8 p.m. Feb. 18 for the district title. The loser will be eliminated.On the girls' side, the Pocola Lady Indians will face Gore at 6:30 p.m. next Friday to see who will meet the host Panama Lady Razorbacks at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 18, while the loser will be eliminated.At the Class 2A District Tournament in Wister, the host Lady Wildcats will meet Fort Towson at 6:30 p.m. next Friday, followed by the Howe Lions meeting Fort Towson at 8 p.m. The winner will advance to meet the Howe Lady Lions and the Wister Wildcats at 6:30 and 8 p.m. Feb. 18, respectively, in title games. Next Friday night's losers will be eliminated.At the Class 2A District Tournament in Warner, the Talihina Golden Tigers will meet host Warner at 8 p.m. nxt Friday, with the winner meeting Summit Christian at 8 p.m. Feb. 18 for the district championship. The loser will be eliminated.The Talihina Lady Golden Tigers got a bye into the title game of the Class 2A District Tournament in Warner and will play the winner of the Summit Christian-Warner game at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 18. Summit Christian and Warner will play at 6:30 p.m. next Friday, with the loser being eliminated.
