The winners will play at 6:30 and 8 p.m., respectively, on Saturday for regional championships. But tonight's winners are guaranteed to do no worse than be regional runners-up, and advance to next week's Class A Area Tournament at the McAlester Expo Center.
Tonight's losers are not eliminated from the playoffs, but they must win elimination games Friday night and the consolation championship contests Saturday afternoon, also at the new Wilburton High School Gym.
In Class B, two girls teams, the Bokoshe Lady Tigers and the Whitesboro Lady Bulldogs are at their respective regional tournaments on the winner's-bracket side.
At the Class B Regional Tournament in Boynton, the Lady Tigers will meet Braggs at 6:30 p.m. tonight. The winner will play for the regional championship at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in Stroud. Regardless of Saturday night's outcome, both teams in this game will advance to next week's Class B Area Tournament in Cleveland, Okla.
However, the loser will have to win Friday afternoon and win the consolation championship contest at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Both of these games will be in Stroud.
For the Lady Bulldogs, they will meet Red Oak at 6:30 p.m. tonight in Stringtown, with the victor playing for the regional title at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Moss High School near Holdenville.
But tonight's loser will still be alive in the postseason, but must win Friday afternoon and Saturday afternoon's consolation championship game to make it to next week's Class B Area Tournament at Kingston.
Three teams, both Leflore teams and the Whitesboro Bulldogs, are playing for their playoff lives this afternoon in regional tournaments.
At the Class B Regional Tournament in Stroud, the Lady Savages and Savages will meet the Carney teams at 1:30 and 3 p.m., respectively, this afternoon. The winners of these games will advance to the consolation semifinals Friday afternoon in Stroud, with those victors advancing to Saturday afternoon's consolation championship games — also in Stroud — to advance to next week's Class B Area Tournament in Cleveland, Okla.
At the Class B Regional Tournament in Stringtown, the ’Dogs will meet Battiest at 3 p.m. this afternoon, with the survivor playing Friday night in the consolation semifinals at Moss High School. That winner will then play in the consolation title contest Saturday afternoon, also at Moss High School, for the right to advance to next week's Class B Area Tournament in Kingston.
