Clifton Edward “Joe” Barnes

Clifton Edward “Joe” Barnes, 84, of Heavener died Friday, Aug. 8, 2013 in Fort Smith, Ark.
A longtime resident of the area, Joe was born Oct. 31, 1928, in Loving to Edward Marion and Alma (Edgman) Barnes. He was a Korea veteran and retired social worker with the Oklahoma Chiild Welfare Department.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rubye Louise Barnes.
Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Giddings and husband Bob of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Susan Barnes and Judith Barnes, both of Sonoma, Calif.; son, Richard Barnes of Tiburon, Calif; step-sons, Richard Meeh and wife Karen of Poteau, Stewart Meeh and wife Leslie of Tulsa; and five grandchildren.
Family visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at Hamilton Homes Community Center in Heavener. No other services are planned.Dowden Funeral Home is handling arrangements. An online guest book is available at dowdenfh.com.
