County Commissioners uphold burn ban

August 21, 2012

During the LeFlore County Commissioner meeting Monday morning, the commissioners continued to extend the burn ban in conjunction with the state-issued ban by Gov. Mary Fallin.

According to the LeFlore County Commissioners, until the governor of Oklahoma rescinds her burn ban, it will still be illegal to burn in LeFlore County.
According to Michael Davidson, director of LeFlore County Emergency Management, Gov. Mary Fallin ordered a burn ban on Aug. 3 to last until Sept. 3. With her proclamation still in effect, the county commissioners determined the local burn ban would remain in effect as well.
Other items discussed included advertising for bids on personal protection equipment for the Fanshawe Fire Department, a wrongful death torte claim filed in the death of Duane E. Sweeten and a grant renewal for the LeFlore County Youth Services, Inc.
