Cusick charged in connection with Spiro house fire

January 25, 2013

Elec E. Cusick, 39, of Spiro is facing multiple charges after a house fire on Stewart Loop.

A Spiro man has been arrested after a warrant for his arrest was issued for assault and battery by means likely to produce death and kidnapping.
Elec E. Cusick, 39, of Spiro, was found unconscious in the front yard of a home on Stewart Loop Monday night along with his girlfriend, Myrtle Cooper, 47, of Spiro.
The two were found after their home caught fire. According to the affidavit, Cooper suffered burns and lacerations along with facial and skull fractures.
Cusick allegedly told a LeFlore County investigator he beat Cooper on the head with a piece of wood until it fell to pieces then sliced her leg open behind her knee so she couldn't get away.
Cusick is in the Tulsa County Detention Center waiting to be transported to LeFlore County.
Cooper is recovering in a Tulsa hospital and was listed in critical but stable condition on Wednesday.
