Dennis Dana Gregory died Monday, Sept. 10, 2012. He was a disabled Vietnam veteran, serving two tours with the U.S. Air Force in Pleiku, Vietnam, as an air passenger service specialist. He distinguished himself as airman of the month among other citations. He traveled extensively in Asia and Europe. He was a graduate of the University of Oklahoma. Residing in Manhattan Beach, Calif., he retired to Heavener in 1988 after many years as customs house manager of ocean imports at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.
He leaves two brothers, John and Jim Gregory of Heavener; two nephews, Guy and MJay Gregory; two cousins who joined the family as brothers, Jerry and Joe Gregory; two aunts, Ann Kirksey and Marilyn Pledger; one great-uncle, Edgar Gregory; and many cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, at the pavilion nearest the water on the north shore of Cedar Lake (old side by bath houses). Please dress casually and come prepared to enjoy a tribute to Dana. The family will have hotdogs, chili and Diet Coke, one of Danaâ€™s favorite meals at a very special place in their hearts.
