Investigators for the LeFlore County District Attorney's Office have spent the last two days searching for the remains of an infant they discovered was buried on the property of a husband and wife charged with child neglect following an investigatio into possible child abuse.
According to an application for exhumation filed by Assistant District Attorney Meg Nicholson on Tuesday, the remains of an infant born to a minor child of James Haskin, 61, and Lucinda Haskin, 39, of LeFlore County was buried on property belonging to the couple after an alleged still birth.
According to the affidavit, the discovery was made after the couples nine minor children were taken into protective custody. The couples 16 year old daughter told investigators that she gave birth in August of 2010 and that her father buried the infant child after he told her the baby was not alive.
The application further states that accusations of sexual abuse were made against James Haskin by two of the children.
The couple was arrested Tuesday afternoon and remain in the LeFlore County Detention Center on $275,000 bonds. James Haskin was booked on charges of child sexual abuse and child neglect. Lucinda Haskin was booked on charges of child neglect and failure to protect.
