Douglas Leroy Cooper, 85, of Cooper,Texas, died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, atClyde Cosper Veterans Home in Bonham,Texas. A graveside service will be held at2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at VaughnCemetery in Gilmore. Visitation will befrom 6-8 p.m. Friday at Coker-MathewsFuneral Home in Greenville, Texas.Born April 29, 1926, in Monroe, Douglaswas the son of Bernnie Lee and Nora Dell (Bolton)Cooper. On April 10, 1949, he married Betty Jo Callawayin Mena, Ark. He served in the U. S. Army during WorldWar II. He was a retired Pentecostal Church of God ministerserving as a missionary for over 20 years in NavahoIndian Missions in Oklahoma and New Mexico.Survivors include his sons, Dan Cooper and wife Bettyof Greenville, and Charles Cooper and wife Sherry ofLeonard, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren;one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces andnephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; wife in 2009;infant daughter Sonia Norene Cooper; six brothers Rob,Other, Gaylan, Rayburn, Carrol, and Herbert Cooper; andsister, Vaneila Clark.For more information or to express condolences, visitwww.cokermathews.com.
