Dove season is the 'kickoff' for fall hunting for this year

August 8, 2013

Dove season is just around the corner, so I decided to give everyone a little background information on these birds that we love to hunt in the early fall. I know that Wister’s Jesse Hammons and his dad, Bud, will be out after those beautiful birds come Sept. 1. They always take Jesse’s little brothers, Will and Joe, along, and make it a whole family affair. They will be making memories that last a lifetime.
Mourning doves are the most widespread and abundant game bird in North America. Each year, hunters harvest more than 20 million birds, but it remains one of our most abundant bird species in the U.S. In Oklahoma, dove season is often viewed as the "kickoff" to the fall hunting season each year.
Have a great week!
