Down to just three teams

Last weekend was a rough one on LeFlore County high school basketball teams. When we woke up Thursday morning, there were 15 teams left. However, now we’re down to three teams — the Talihina teams and the Spiro Bulldogs.Only the Golden Tigers are still on the winner’s-bracket side. They will play for the Class 2A Area Tournament title, and a trip to state, Friday night in Wilburton against Preston — which was the team they beat in both the area finals and state finals in 2011 when they won the Class 2A State Tournament. The Lady Golden Tigers and the ’Dogs have to make state the hard way — win three games in three days.Playoff ScheduleThursdayClass 3A Area TournamentAt ByngSpiro boys vs. Lexington, 8 p.m.Class 2A Area TournamentAt WilburtonTalihina girls vs. Silo, 1:30 p.m.FridayClass 3A Area TournamentAt ByngSpiro-Lexington boys winner vs. Sulphur-Antlers winner, 3 p.m.Class 2A Area TournamentAt WilburtonTalihina-Silo girls winner vs. Wewoka-Preston winner, 1:30 p.m.Talihina boys vs. Preston, 8 p.m. (winner to state)SaturdayClass 3A Area TournamentAt ByngSpiro boys in Consolation Championship, 8 p.m. (winner to state)Class 2A Area TournamentAt WilburtonTalihina girls in Consolation Championship, 6:30 p.m. (winner to state)Talihina-Preston boys loser in Consolation Championship, 8 p.m. (winner to state)
