E. Oklahoma Riverdawgs Legion baseball team begins 2012 season this afternoon

LeFlore County's Major American Legion baseball team, the Eastern Oklahoma Riverdawgs, will begin its 2012 season at 12:30 p.m. this afternoon against Three Rivers in the Trophy Case Tournament in Bartlesville.
The Riverdawgs are comprised mostly of LeFlore County players — Cameron's Brennan Barclay, Chris Pearson and Dale Pearson, Panama's Isaac Burris, Jace Cheely, Jimmy Cheely and David Shirey, Pocola's Jason Lowrimore, Spiro's Slater Dunn, Tyler Didway, Kelby Fowler, Shane Thompson and Jeff Walden, Wister's Colby Turnipseed, Cody Luman and Caleb Hill and Stilwell's Zac Beam.
Coaches are Dave Oliver, Robert Walden and Shain Turnipseed, who coached last summer's Poteau Pirates Legion team which played its home games at Wister.
The ’Dawgs will have six home dates, the first being against Bartlesville June 10 at Pocola. Homes games will be played at either Pocola or Cameron, with the exception of one — June 30 against the Oklahoma City Bulls, which will take place at Carl Albert State College's Ival Goodman Field.
The last home date, July 11 against Rogers, Ark., is unknown at this time where the game will take place.
The Riverdawgs will have several dates in Fort Smith, Ark. — May 31 against Kerwins and June 7-9 in the Susan B. Komen Tournament. They will also play road games in other Arkansas locations — June 3 in Bentonville, June 5 in Rogers.
There will also be road games in Okmulgee on June 13 and July 7, July 14 in Bartlesville and several Oklahoma City games — June 16 against the Oklahoma City Bulls, June 23 against Oklahoma City Brassfield at Putnam Park.
