November 8, 2011

Monday night earthquake shakes homes in LeFlore County.

Once again an earthquake shook the central part of Oklahoma so fiercely that LeFlore Countians felt their homes shake.
According to the Oklahoma Geological Survey, on Monday evening at 8:46 a 4.7 magnitude earthquake occurred 5.6 miles South East of Sparks, Okla. The tremor took place along the Wilzetta Fault which is also known as the Seminole Uplift.
Many people in LeFlore County report feeling the Monday night tremor.
This last earthquake is one of several that have shook Oklahoma since Saturday. According to the OGS, 50-167 earthquakes happen in Oklahoma yearly, but the most current tremors are notable due to their magnitude and shallowness.
