Edmond M. Conway, 74, of rural Cambridge, Ill., died Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview, Texas, while traveling home from wintering in Donna, Texas. A service celebrating his life was held Monday at Vandemore Funeral Homes Ltd., Geneseo, Ill. Pastors Galen Haegele and Charles Alligood officiated. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery, where military honors were accorded by Don Cherry VFW Post 5083. Memorials may be made to the Edmond Conway Memorial Fund, to be distributed to his church and the hospitals that cared for him and his family.Â
Edmond was born May 18, 1939, in Osborne, Kan., to Thad and Madonna (Wallace) Conway. He graduated from Osborne High School. He proudly in the U.S. Army from 1961-1963. Edmond married Audrey K. Bailey Neirynck on May 16, 1987, in Davenport, Iowa. Edmond started his career as a welder for Johnson Sheet Works. He later became owner/operator of Buffalo Shore Marine in Buffalo, Iowa, which he operated for a number of years. After selling that business he became a salesman for Chuck Marine and LMI Equipment tractor dealership. After retiring he had started a professional lawn care and landscaping business.
He was a member of Sovereign Grace Baptist Church in Davenport, and while wintering in Texas they attended Grace Baptist Church in Alamo. He was a member of the NRA, an avid fisherman and enjoyed traveling all over the country in their RV as well as wintering in Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey; a daughter, Angie (Dave) Charlet, Cambridge; sons, Marc Conway, Coal Valley, Gary (Rebecca) Neirynck, Parker, Texas; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; sisters: Maryanne (Ralph) Mayfield, Wichita, Kan., Sharon (Jim) Cate, Howe.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Charles.
