An eggs-tremely fun time at 2012 BalloonFest

October 25, 2012

MORE EGGS-CITING EGGANATOR FUN — The 2012 Poteau BalloonFest was once again adorned with the "egganator," in which outdoor columnist Jody Adams, right, got to be the target of people throwing eggs. Photo submitted by Jody Adams

I would like to thank everyone who came out to the 2012 BalloonFest last weekend, and threw eggs at Alan Hensley and yours truly in our “egganator” again this year. All the money raised went to the fourth-grade Poteau Bandit League football team. I would also like to thank Price Cutter for giving us a few eggs.
Nine-year-old Harley Jordan of Lequire and 50-year-old Cheryl Wineland of Panama were our top throwers this year. They both had strong arms with deadly accuracy. To say we got egg on our faces is an understatement.
Jerry Hensley, age 74, even lit me up. He was our oldest thrower, and still has a great fastball, er fast egg!
It was really fun, and let me say thanks again for all those who participated for a good cause. We'll be back again for 2013 BalloonFest with plenty more eggs.
Go Poteau, beat Broken Bow.
Good Bandit League teams in your playoff games Saturday.
Go Pokes, beat Texas Christian.
Save the world — recycle.
God bless our troops and veterans.
Have a great weekend.
