Ernest Wesley Jenson

Ernest Wesley Jenson, 86, of Wister died Saturday, July 13, 2013. He was born June 12, 1927, to Howard and Lahoma (Webb) Jenson in Poteau. Ernest was a graduate of Poteau High School and served in the Navy during WWII. He was owner and operator of Jenson’s Furniture in Wister until his retirement in 1982. He was one of the five who founded the Wister Fire Department and also served on the board of directors for Wister State Bank. Ernest was a member of the Broadway Church of Christ in Poteau.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Reba Sherrod.
Survivors include his wife, Elnora Jenson of the home; two daughters, Bobbie Vinson of Wilburton, Terrie Wells and husband Danny of Denison, Texas; grandchildren, Jeremy Vinson and wife Amanda of Wilburton, Lacy Russell and husband Andy of Sherman, Texas, and Jackson Wells of Denison; four great-grandchildren; and other relatives and loved ones.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, with the Rev. Jim Cook and Dennis Lungstrum officiating. Burial will be in Monroe Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Harmon Robinson, Dwight Robinson, Steve Walden, Bill Young, Kevin Traywick and Cliff “Chick” Midgley.
