Esther Cofer

Esther Cofer, 99, of Poteau died
Wednesday, July 6, 2011, in Poteau. Esther
was born Sept. 16, 1911 in Cameron to
Albert and Eva Clementine (Irvin) Cox.
She was a member of First Assembly of
God Church in Poteau. Esther was a home-
maker.
She was preceded in death by her par-
ents; husband, Wade; sisters, Evie Leonard,
Edith Garrett, and Eva Cox; and nephew, Carl.
Survivors include her sons, David A. and Miriam Cofer
of Hennessey and Ron and Marsha Cofer of Poteau;
daughters, Wadene and Louis Ward of Paris, Texas, Anita
and Bill Barber of Poteau, and Shirley and Joe Slate of
Paris; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three
great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and neph-
ews. A special thanks to her caregiver, Marie Greene.
Services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 9, at Evans
Chapel of Memories, Poteau, with The Revs. Jim Cook
and Frankie Harris officiating. Burial will follow in
Oakland Cemetery, Poteau.
The family will be at the funeral home on Friday from
6-8 p.m. to visit with friends and relatives.
