Eugene Allen Logan, 85 of Shady Point died Monday, May 21, 2012, in Poteau.Â Gene was born Jan. 10, 1927, in Wetumka to Kerb L. and Camie (Holton) Logan.Â Gene worked for Poteau food in the early part of his life and then was owner of Geneâs Food Market in Poteau during the 1960s and early â70s.Â He worked for Holtonâs Supermarket andÂ retired. Gene was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He loved to go to rodeos and calf roping and fish in his spare time.Â His biggest enjoyment was to grow a big garden and giveÂ vegetables to his friendsÂ He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Lavada Sharp, Flora Brown and Ollie Fay Hughes; two brothers, Lloyd Logan and Frank Logan; and son-in-law, Derrail Roland.
Survivors include his wife, Billie Jean Logan of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Peggy Logan of Keota; daughter, Sue Roland of Shady Point; grandsons Jerry Don Logan, Jeff Logan and wife Amanda, all of Keota, Derrail Roland and wife Mindy of Shady Point; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and loved ones.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, at Shady Point Cemetery with Rev. Jim Cook officiating.Â Pallbearers will be Jerry Don Logan, Jeff Logan, Derrail Roland, Jerry Lee Logan and Kirby Logan.
The family will be at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday to visit with relatives and friends.
