Eva Kirk

January 27, 2012

Eva Caldwell Kirk, 98, formerly of Poteau, died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, at Carolina House, Morehead City, N.C. Born on May 24, 1913, she was a daughter of the late John Edward and Fannie Bone Caldwell.
Mrs. Kirk was born in Poteau and moved to Amory, Miss., in 1935 where she met and married Joseph S. Kirk in 1936. As a homemaker, she also worked in Amory part-time as a clerk in a Five and Dime store, at Peoples Drug Store and in a jewelry store. Having a deep faith in God, Mrs. Kirk was a member of the Methodist Church and for a time the Church of the Nazarene; she believed in prayer and in reading the Bible, using it as a guidebook for her life. A loving and cheerful lady, she was passionate about making disciples and bringing others to Christ. Mrs. Kirk was a former member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority in Amory. She enjoyed church activities, spending time with her family and friends, playing golf, playing bridge, knitting, sewing for others, and working picture puzzles. Mrs. Kirk enjoyed Gospel music and hymns and had the ability to make others smile.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph S. Kirk Sr.; second husband, Charles Jenson; five sisters; and six brothers.
She is survived by her son, Joe S. Kirk (Katie), Morehead City; grandsons, Beckett and Evan Kirk, of San Diego; great-granddaughter, Azul Diaz; step-grandchildren, Mark Drissel of Maryland; Juliana Holt of North Carolina and Joseph Drissel of Maryland; step-great-grandchildren, Linus and Ava Drissel, Jordan and Jake Holt, and Sarah and Joseph Drissel; and sister-in-law, Leeoma Caldwell.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory with Rev. Warren Coile officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Beckett and Evan Kirk, Mark Whitehead, Edwin Bolding, Buddy Bryant and Jacky Boozer.
