HEAVENER — The dream of any senior high school athlete is to get to state, or play for a state championship. Heavener High School senior cross-country runner Jose Farias has that opportunity Saturday morning.
Farias will be the lone Heavener Wolf to run at the Class 3A State Meet, which will begin at approximately 10:30 a.m. at Shawnee's Gordon Cooper Vo-Tech Center.
Farias qualified for state at last weekend's Class 3A Regional Meet in Henryetta. He strongly believed that his time of 18:49 was going to be good enough to earn him an individual berth to this morning's state meet.
“I was pretty confident that I was going to make it back to state,” Farias said. “I knew I was going to make it because of how hard I've been training. I was just excited when I found out I was going to state again. I'm looking forward to it.”
