Earl Finis Baldwin of Wister was born June 26, 1933. in Wister, the son of Troy and Ruth (Gullick) Baldwin. He died July 7, 2013, in Wister. He was a retired union carpenter and member of the Carpenter’s Union Local 71 in Fort Smith, Ark. After retirement, he worked an additional 10-plus years as a greeter at Walmart in Poteau. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and Korean War and of the Assembly of God faith. He was married to Emma (Pendley) Baldwin. She preceded him in death on Jan. 31, 2010. He loved gardening, shooting pool and listening to and telling good jokes. He could often be seen cruising the roads around the Latham area in his John Deere Gator in search of cans, with his dogs riding along. Most of all, he loved his family.He is survived by four sons, Mark Baldwin and his companion Sherrie Luker of Muldrow, Earl Baldwin Jr. and his wife Lori of Tulsa, Heath Baldwin and his companion Carolyn McClain of Shady Point, Keith Baldwin and his wife Stephanie of Bixby; two daughters, Kathy Gray and her husband, Terry of Shady Point, and Sandy Holzhammer and her husband Kenny of Wister; 15 grandchildren: Jennifer Dickson, Tara Nicely, Laura Green, Mariah Blythe, Caitlin, Cody and Matthew Holzhammer, Tori, Taylor, Macy, Madison, Sammie Jo, Max and Dillon Baldwin and Harvey McClain; five great-grandchildren, Justice, Madalyn, Gavin Dickson, Emma Nicely and Isla Green; two sisters, Martha Rice and her husband George of Moore, and Gwen Bell of Henryetta; one brother, Donald Baldwin and his wife Tina of Fort Worth, Texas; sister-in-law, Audrie Niccum of Sheridan, Ark.; brother-in-law, Bill Pendley and his wife Theresa of DeRidder, La.; other family members, friends and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma; his parents; one sister, Nell Hoyle; three brothers-in-law, John Hoyle, Gene Niccum and Anthony Bell.Services will be held at 11 a.m.Wednesday, July 10, at the Evans and Miller Funeral Home Chapel in Poteau with Pastor Jack Covey officiating. Burial will follow at the Fair Hill/Knothole Cemetery in Cameron.His children will serve as pallbearers.Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Nicely, Tim Green, Steve Dickson and Kenny HolzhammerViewing will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Evans and Miller Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m.
