Football caused some long nights for me this Labor Day Weekend

September 5, 2012

I got back from Durant at 2 a.m. Saturday after going to the Poteau football season opener.
Then, the next night, I was forced to stay up until 1:30 a.m. Sunday due to the closeness of the Oklahoma Sooners' football game at Texas-El Paso.
I was glad that Monday was a holiday, because I crashed and burned on the couch. I have not failed to watch an OU football on TV for the last five years, but I really can not get enthused on spending $39.95 to watch this Staurday's OU-Florida A&M game on pay-per-view. Leroy, you do still carry those game on the radio don’t you?
Who was the most famous football player to play for the Rattlers of A&M? At that time, he was the fastest human on the face of the earth. Bullet Bob Hayes won the gold medal in the 100-meter dash and played for the Dallas Cowboys.
Perhaps Florida A&M's most famous commodity will not even be there to march. After all, the school's band is under investigation for its hazing process that caused one of their band members to die.
