'Football Frenzy' will take place Thursday night so Friday's edition can publish high school games' stories

October 13, 2012

As most of you reader know, during the high school football season, the Saturday morning editions are held so we can get the high school football games' stories into that edition.
Next week is Fall Break, and all the games will be played on Thursday night. In my first two years as sports editor of The Poteau Daily News, the decision was made to not hold Friday morning's edition for the games' stories, but wait and publish them on that Saturday's edition.
This year will be different. The stories about Thursday night's games will be the Friday edition as the decision was made to treat what we call “Football Frenzy” on Thursday night for Friday's edition as opposed to how it is the other weeks — hold our Saturday morning edition for the Friday night games.
I thought you all would like to know this, and will be happy with that decision.
