Football revival beginning in Poteau

September 4, 2012

Sweeping this way — yes, sweeping this way,
A mighty revival is sweeping this way.
You can find those words in most church hymnals in Poteau. While these words talk of a revival in the churches, I can since the Pirates have had a change in their philosophy and their work ethic. This old church song could be the new motto for the Poteau Pirate football team. The Pirates are on the rise, and these players and coaches are going to have a football revival that will bring the Pirates back to football glory of yester years.
Ever since the Pirates hired Greg Werner from Broken Bow as their new coach last May, I have been following the situation very closely. I could see something happening.
