Fort Smith (Ark.) Northside soccer teams sweep Poteau

The post-Spring Break portion of the season did not begin as hoped for the Poteau High School soccer teams. The Pirates and Lady Pirates suffered losses to the visiting Fort Smith (Ark.) Northside teams Tuesday at Costner Stadium.
The Pirates lost 3-1, which came after the Lady Grizzlies blanked the Lady Pirates 2-0.
Both Poteau teams will open district play Friday night at Fort Gibson, with the girls' game at 5:30 p.m. and the boys' contest at 7:30 p.m. The Tigers are ranked second in Class 4A, and the Pirates are fifth. The winner of this game should be in the driver’s seat for the conference title.
