Fort Smith woman found slain near Fort Coffee

Ka'Loni Marie Flynn, 20, of Fort Smith, Ark., named as victim of Monday morning murder in LeFlore County.

A murder investigation is ongoing in LeFlore County after a Fort Smith woman was found dead inside her car Monday morning.
According to LeFlore County Sheriff Bruce Curnutt, the department received a call about a possible homicide at 3:46 a.m. Monday morning after a passerby stopped to check on a vehicle parked in the middle of McGinnis Lane near Fort Coffee.
The passerby told investigators he noticed the vehicle parked in the road at approximately 1:30 a.m. as he headed to Pocola and when he returned home the car was still parked in the road. When he stopped to check on the vehicle he made the grizzly discovered of a woman dead inside the vehicle.
According to Curnutt, the victim was identified as Ka'Loni Marie Flynn, 20, of Fort Smith. The manner of death has not been released at this time, but PDN sources claim Flynn was the victim of a gunshot wound.
The LeFlore County Sheriff's Department and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation are investigating the murder. Curnutt stated during a phone interview that several people of interest were being located for interviews in the death of Flynn and one potential person of interest was currently being interviewed.
By Monday morning, the OSBI had completed processing the crime scene and had secured the vehicle for further processing of evidence and fingerprints, according to Curnutt.
Flynn, the daughter of Herbert and Lavetter Flynn, graduated from Spiro High School in 2010 and was very active in school activities. She was a member of the FCCLA, FCA, track, cheerleading squad, manager of the basketball team and a member of the Spanish Club.
Her body has been sent to the Oklahoma Medical Examiners Office in Tulsa to officially determine cause of death.
