Fred J. Kerksiek, 74, of Poteau died Tuesday, July 31, 2012, in Fort Smith, Ark. 
Fred was born Nov. 27, 1937, in Wakeeney, Kan., to Henry and Minnie (Wrightmire) Kerksiek. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a mechanic. Fred attended the First Free Will Baptist Church in Poteau. He was preceded in death by his father and his wife, Beatrice.  He loved gardening, fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his daughters, Toni Kerksiek of Poteau, Theresa Kral of Mansfield, Ark.; grandson, Grant Kirksiek of Baltimore, Md.; sisters, Shirley Rice of Pueblo, Colo., Henrietta and Nancy; brothers LeRoy Kirksiek of Colby, Kan., Carl Kirksiek of Greeley, Colo.; his mother, Minnie Kerksiek of Strasberg, Colo.; other relatives and loved ones.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, graveside at Oakland Cemetery, Poteau, with Rev. Jim Cook officiating.
