Friday’s High School Girls Basketball Roundup

December 18, 2012

TALIHINA — Nothing like celebrating homecoming with a thrilling victory, and that’s just what the Talihina Lady Golden Tigers did Friday night on Chris Gillespie Court at Ray Henson Gymnasium.
Down 18-7 after one period, the Lady Golden Tigers tied the game with a buzzer-beater to send the game into overtime. Then, the locals used a strong OT period to win, 51-43.
With seven seconds left, the Lady Savages led 39-36 and were getting ready to shoot the one-and-one. Jeff Oliver, Talihina’s coach, called timeout to ice the shooter — and it worked.
The Broken Bow player missed the free throw, and Talihina came down and Kaelin Boren’s 3-point basket at the buzzer tied the game at 39-all to force overtime.
It was all Talihina in overtime as the Lady Golden Tigers outscored the Lady Savages 12-4.
Whitesboro 43, Quinton 41: In Whitesboro, Hope Sisemore’s free throws with 1.2 seconds left to play broke a 41-all tie get the Lady Bulldogs their 10th win of the season.
Spiro 47, Stilwell 38: In Stilwell, the Lady Bulldogs trailed 10-5 after one period, but they outscored the Lady Indians 42-28 over the final three quarters to get the come-from-behind win.
Editor’s note — Nothing was reported on Leflore’s game with Porum by press time.
