TALIHINA â€” The Talihina Golden Tigers took some momentum into this week's Broken Bow Tournament as they handled the Valliant Bulldogs 9-5 on Friday afternoon.
With the game tied at 5-5 after three innings, the Golden Tigers broke the tie by scoring three runs in the fourth inning. Clark Austin's RBI double and Austin Lawson's second home run of the season, a two-run shot, put Talihina ahead 8-5 after four innings.
Panama 6, Quinton 0; Panama 10, Kinta 0: In Panama, the Razorbacks (4-4) got a pair of outstanding pitching performances. Trey Byrd got his first win of the season as he struck out five and threw a three-hit shutout against the Savages.
Tyler Sebo threw a perfect three-inning game, facing nine batters and striking out eight of them.
In the win over Quinton, all the run support Byrd needed came by the third inning as Panama scored twice in the second inning and once in the third inning before doubling the lead to 6-0 in the fourth inning.
In the victory over Kinta, the Hogs scored four runs in the opening inning to put the game away.
Cameron 5, Hartshorne 2: In Cameron, trailing 2-0, the Yellowjackets rallied to take a 3-2 lead thanks to a two-run second inning and a single run in the third inning. Two more runs scored in the sixth inning on two wild pitches.
Leflore 3, Buffalo Valley 1: In Buffalo Valley, the Savages scored once in the opening inning, once in the second inning and once in the fifth inning for a 3-0 lead.
Dakota Watson got the win, fanning 14 batters.
Rogers (Ark.) Heritage 8, Spiro 6: In Rogers, Ark., the Bulldogs had the lead taken away from them when Heritage scored three runs in the sixth inning to get the come-from-behind win.
