PANOLA — Leflore's Caleb Smith hit the twine for 40 points as the Leflore Savages dominated the Panola Bearcats for a 67-35 win — and their fifth straight victory.
The ’Cats only trailed 23-13 at halftime, but the Savages outscored them 34-2 in the third quarter to take a 57-15 lead into the final period.
Smith's 40 points came in only three periods.
“He could have probably gotten 70 had he played the entire game,” said Daniel Caldwell, Leflore's first-year coach.
Talihina 49, Stigler 44: In Stigler, trailing 44-40 with 2:14 left to play, the Golden Tigers ended the game on a 9-0 run to earn the come-from-behind victory.
Arkoma 55, Bokoshe 29: In Bokoshe, the Mustangs jumped out to a 25-5 lead after a period and never looked back.
Howe 56, Quinton 52: In Howe, the Lions made it a happy homecoming, despite hitting only 4 of 20 from the free-throw line.
The Lions led 10-6 after a period, 24-17 at halftime and 39-30 after three quarters.
Spiro 73, Stilwell 61: In Spiro, the Bulldogs led 17-14 after one period and slowly kept increasing their lead from there.
Heavener 44, Hartshorne 32: In Hartshorne, the Wolves jumped out to a 13-7 lead after a period en route to a 25-18 halftime lead. Heavener took a 39-26 lead into the final quarter.
Pocola 44, Wilburton 32: In Wilburton, the Indians, who hit only 18 of 55 shots from the field for the game and hit no 3-point baskets, trailed 9-6 after a period and 14-13 at halftime, but they outscored the Diggers 17-7 in the third quarter to take a 30-21 lead into the final period.
Keota 64, Wister 35: In Wister, the Lions had a 9-5 lead after a the first quarter, 25-16 at halftime and 42-23 after three periods as Keota spoiled Wister's homecoming.
