Gerald Dee Rana Sr.

Gerald Dee Rana Sr., the most wonderful husband and father that God has placed on this earth, of Red Oak died Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at his residence at the age of 84.
Gerald was born May 19, 1929, to Hoyt and Dovie (Holderfield) Rana at Fanshawe. He attended Fanshawe School before joining the U.S. Army and serving in World War II. He married Docia Alford Oct. 1, 1949 at Red Oak. Gerald moved to California and worked in shipping for American Pot Ash and Chemical Corp./Kerr McGee from 1951-1969. Gerald then returned to Oklahoma where he cattle ranched. Gerald was an outdoorsman, an avid forester and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Red Oak Assembly of God Church. Gerald was a lifetime member of the Ridgecrest California VFW, lifetime member of the American Legion and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He served on the Watershed Committee for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Docia (Alford) Rana of the home; son, Dr. Gerald Rana Jr. and wife Linda of Wilburton; grandchildren, Mark Rana and wife Dawn of San Antonio, Texas, Sunny Rana of Red Oak, Michael Johnson and wife, Dana of McAlester; great-grandchildren: Rana Denley, Quin Rana, Michael Johnson, Nicholas Denley, Hailey Johnson, and Tori Mills; sister, Floy Osborn of Phoenix, Ariz.; brother, Coy Rana of Inyokern, Calif.; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Hoyt and Dovie Rana; daughter, Barbara Ann Rana in 2005; brothers, Max Rana, J.T. Rana; and sisters, Ilene Newby and Patsy Rana.
The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Jones Harkins Funeral Home in Wilburton.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at Red Oak Assembly of God Church officiated by the Rev. Randy Holmes. Burial will be in Leflore Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mark Rana, Roy Alford, Michael Johnson, Brandon Parks, Brittney Montgomery, Sharon Alford, Rodney Derryberry and Jimmy “Junior” Alford Jr..
Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandchildren Rana Denley, Quinn Rana, Michael Johnson, Nicholas Denley, Hailey Johnson and Tori Mills.
Jones Harkins Funeral Home, Wilburton, is handling arrangements.
