Group forms alliance to fight Poteau hotel tax

February 22, 2012

A group of local business owners have banned together to speak out against the proposed hotel tax in Poteau. The group, named the Poteau Area Business Alliance (PABA), was formed last week by all the hotel and motel owners in Poteau. Organizers say that when the group met shortly after the special election for the tax was voted on by the Poteau City Council earlier this month they discussed the fact that there wasn't an organization that business owners could go to that could stand up for them.
According to a press release issued by PABA, the group will not require membership dues. The organization will be made up of business men and women and will be all about business issues.
