Group plans 5k walk and run

March 14, 2012

With the winter chill finally behind us, the time is now to strap on your running shoes and get running.
Area runners and walkers will have a chance to support youth softball.
Sponsored by parents of the ball players, the Run with the Wildcats 5K walk and run will raise money to support the Wister Wildcats this season.
The event will take place on March 17 at 9 a.m. The route starts at the LeFlore County Highway Department Building southwest of Poteau in the Poteau Industrial Complex next to Southern Star Inc.
The route will take runners to the LeFlore County Solid Waste Management transfer station and then back to the starting line along the old Frisco Trail.
A 5K race is an event in which runners and walkers will travel a distance of approximately five kilometers over the course of the event. Five kilometers is roughly the equivalent of three miles.
The event is competitive and prizes will be awarded to walkers and runners who qualify.
Participants are required to pay an entry fee in order to compete. Adult competitors are required to pay $20 and student competitors are required to pay $10.
