Gunnels, Michaels win Kiamichi Outdoor Festival Bass Tournament

September 16, 2011

AND THE WINNERS ARE ... — Above, here are the top three teams in last weekend's Kiamichi Outdoor Festival Bass Tournament on Lake Wister. From left, Todd Gunnels and Greg Michaels won the event, followed by Keith Griffith and Gary Steelman and Chuck Restine and Steve Core. Photo by Jody Adams

The Main Street Matters Kiamichi Outdoor Festival Bass Tournament took place Saturday at Wister Lake. The weigh-in took place in downtown Poteau on Dewey Avenue.
Todd Gunnels and Greg Michaels took first place, hauling in 15.83 pounds of fish.
Keith Griffith and Gary Steelman were second (15.16), while Chuck Restine and Steve Core were third (15 pounds even — which included Steve's big bass, weighing 4.73 pounds).
It was a good tournament because everybody caught fish. I fished with Randy Martin, and he caught a fish weighing 4.56 pounds — which was the big bass at that time, until Steve's 4.73-pounder got caught. It was the third straight year Randy and I got beat out right at the end. Next year, we're going to win that dude!
