Hard to believe 2012 regular football season will end this week

October 28, 2012

How time flies when you're having fun. Can you believe that by the end of this week, the regular season for 2012 high school football will be done? It just seems like I was doing small trips to our local high schools to do media days and preparing the 2012 LeFlore County Gridiron Preview. Now, come next Friday night high school football will be over for those teams who don't make the playoffs.
On the other hand, it looks like LeFlore County will have four teams make the postseason. Spiro (Class 3A) and Talihina (Class A) are locks. The Week 10 games next Friday night for Spiro and Talihina will be crucial. Spiro, which lost to Roland on Friday night, will hope to try to get a home playoff game the following week by beating Checotah at McClain Stadium and get help elsewhere in District 3A-8, while Talihina will seek a share of the District A-6 championship after the Golden Tigers suffered their first loss of the season Friday night at Savanna.
Both local District 2A-6 teams, Panama and Pocola, will be playoff bound. With Panama's win over Pocola Friday night, coupled with Hugo's 35-22 upset win over Wilburton, the Hogs will be the third-place team, while the Indians will be fourth.
