The Hawghunters Bass Club will have an open tournament beginning at safe light and ending at 3 p.m. Saturday at Ward's Landing on Wister Lake. The entry fee is $80 per boat.
For additional information, call Joe Moon at (479) 651-0410.
All the reports I've been getting from all the local anglers at Wister is that fishing is really good, and big fish are being caught — which should bode well for Saturday's tournament participants.
Yours truly will have to skip this event because the third-fourth grade Bandit League team will be in the Greenwood (Ark.) Jamboree Football Scrimmage. This one is huge, and will last all day long until dark. All the teams have been working really hard in practice since the first of the month to put the best teams on the field. Hopefully, they will all have winning seasons. All the kids have worked really hard, and I hope they will learn something and do well. Go, Poteau!
Community Pep
Rally Tuesday
The Poteau Pirates Quarterback Club third annual Community Pep Rally will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Costner Stadium. The Poteau High School band will perform as well as will the Poteau High School cheerleaders and dance team.
There will be a dance-off between classes, and the players will be signing autographs.
“Beat the Heat
Music Fest”
The “Beat the Heat Music Fest” Battle of the Bands Competition will be Sept. 22 at Heavener Runestone Park. The gates will open at 10 a.m., and the event will last to approximately 10:30 p.m.
The entry fee for bands wishing to compete is $50, and the deadline to enter is Sept. 14.
