Heavener basketball teams open season tonight at home against Talihina squads

November 30, 2012

The 2012-13 seasons will commence tonight for the Heavener High School basketball teams as they entertain Talihina. The girls game will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by the boys contest at 8 p.m.
The Wolves, who were 9-15 a season ago, will begin a new era as Jeff Chronister, who previously coached at Sallisaw, takes over for Scott Gregory, who is the new girls coach at Poteau High School.
Paul Moore begins his second season as coach of the Lady Wolves, who were 9-14 a season ago.
Graduation hit the Lady Wolves hard as four senior players graduated, and no starters are back.
In fact, only two key players are back who saw any major amount of playing time.
