Heavener cross country runner makes Top 15 at Collinsville Invitational; Wolves finish eighth, Lady Wolves come in ninth; Poteau runners perform this morning at ORU

COLLINSVILLE — Heavener High School cross country runner Jose Farias made the Top 15 at Thursday's Collinsville Invitational. He placed 13th with a time of 18:14 on a 5,000-meter course.
As a team, the Wolves placed eighth with 193 points, finishing behind Tahlequah (44 points), Skiatook (62), Mannford (89), host Collinsville (100), Cleveland (121), Tulsa East Central (149) and Miami (151).
After Farias, Arturo Ortega was 35th (19:36), Octavio Sanchez was 73rd (22:53), James Cinocca was 82nd (23:39) and Michael Bobo was 94th (27:30).
The Lady Wolves were ninth with 250 points. Tahlequah got the team sweep as the Lady Tigers won the meet with 28 points, followed by host Collinsville (60 points), Vinita (62), Keys (Park Hill) (106), Mannford (149), Tulsa East Central (158), Inola (181) and Skiatook (197).
The highest finish on the two-mile course for Heavener was Araceli Farias, who placed 41st (14:53). Melyssa Lynch was 73rd (16:04), Gloriann Staines was 80th (16:32), Caitlin Carson was 83rd (16:42) and Kaylan Leder was 91st (17:05).
The Heavener runners will be in action next Saturday as they will either be at the Oklahoma Baptist University Invitational in Shawnee or the Checotah Invitational.
The Poteau cross country teams ran this morning at the Oral Roberts University Invitational in Tulsa.
