Heavener cross country runners compete at OBU Invitational

SHAWNEE — The Heavener High School cross country teams competed Saturday at the Oklahoma Baptist University Invitational at Gordon Cooper Vo-Tech Center, which is the site of this season's Class 3A State Meet.
The Lady Wolves finished 15th with 394 points, as Hennessey won the girls' team title with 102 points.
Araceli Farias was Heavener's highest finisher in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 14:41 to come in 79th. Johna Enger was 108th (15:18), Melyssa Lynch wa 121st (15:38), Caitlyn Carson was 137th (16:07.6), Gloriann Staines was 143rd (16:19) and Teresa Duncan was 185th (20:48). There were 191 runners in the field.
In the boys' division, the Wolves were 19th with 420 points. Oklahoma Bible Academy won the boys' team title with 104 points.
Jose Farias was Heavener's highest finisher in the 5k run as he was 23rd with a time of 18:24. Arturo Ortega was 57th (19:32), Octavio Sanchez was 133rd (22:28), James Cinnoca was 156th (23:40) and Michael Bobo was 181st (26:57).
The Heavener teams will return to action next Saturday as they will run at the Oklahoma State University Jamboree in Stillwater, along with the Poteau teams.
