Heavener cross country runners compete Saturday at Henryetta

HENRYETTA — The Heavener High School cross country teams ran in their second meet of the season Saturday at the Henryetta Invitational.
The Wolves were 13th with 295 points. The host Golden Knights won the team title with 101 points.
Octavio Sanchez was Heavener's highest placer, running the 5k run in 22:11 to place 62nd. Frank Cruz was 94th (23:53), Estaban Martinez was 96th (24:08), James Cinocca was 129th (26:36), Jacob Robertson was 138th (27:18) and Devon Matthews was 153rd (29:30).
In the high school girls division, the Lady Wolves were 18th with 435 points. The Warner Lady Eagles took the team title with 91 points.
Gloriann Staines was Heavener's fastest runner of the day, running the two-mile course in 16:39 to place 80th. Kayle Huckaby was 103rd (17:41), Lily Friedl was 114th (18:25), Ali Paxton was 120th (18:38) and Sarah Genevie was 157th (23:58).
The Heavener runners will return to action next Saturday at the Prague Invitational.
